New Jersey Govenor Signs Sunday Bowhunting Bill

After over 100 years of limited hunting on Sundays, sportsmen in New Jersey have reason to celebrate after Governor John Corzine signed legislation establishing bow hunting on Sundays.

On Monday, May 4, Gov. Corzine signed Senate Bill 802, sponsored by Senator Stephen Sweeney (D-3).  The bill authorizes licensed bow hunters to hunt deer on Sundays on private property or on state wildlife management lands during deer season.  It will become effective at the beginning of the 2009 bow hunting season this fall.

The bill passed by a wide margin in both chambers of the legislature despite the intense opposition of numerous anti-hunting groups including the New Jersey Animal Rights Alliance and the Humane Society of the United States. After clearing the legislature in mid March, those groups urged anti’s to swarm Gov. Corzine with calls to veto the measure.

“This is great news for New Jersey sportsmen and a great first step,” said vice president for government affairs Rob Sexton.  “As in other states, when leadership sees that Bowhunting on Sunday is no different than any other day, all sportsmen and sportswomen will have the opportunity to hunt on Sunday.

Since 1903, most forms of Sunday hunting had been banned in the state.

We will never stop fighting to end the pain and suffering of our sentient being. You took the land away from the public wanted a nice peaceful safe sunday, you say it won’t be no “different” then any other days but it will be for Sunday is a day when everyone is off and would like to enjoy the park without worrying about sadistic human on deer killing stand ready to shoot an arrow to their innocent bodies. Its not about “conservation” or “population control” for as many years NJ had killed millions of deer yet still the same overpopulation problems year after year with Deer vehicle accidents just as high as always. Killing does not work because there is nothing normal in nature of mass killing wildlife within 3 months times. That is why the ecological principle called compensatory rebound brings the population right back up again year after year and the wildlife killers knows this so does DNR. Plus the DNR clear cuts forest , planting food that deers love to ensure of deer ( for big rack deer). NJ Fish and Wildlife is a sham and the bowkillers are the lowest form of life of earth and we hope to overturn this sadism on Sunday.

Deer Birth Control Immunocotraception is the only way, and its the kind compassionate way to end the problems of deer overpopulation. Its not the deers fault its YOUR FAULT!

I love when uneducated people attack the hunter and hunting program in any state but especially NJ. First what are the tax screaming tax payers of NJ going to do IF birth control is brought about. Cost! I have seen deer jump 6′ fences surrounding a schools athletic fields and graze on the football fields. (Town Voorhees) A large buck run through the town of Audubon. Where did he come from? More and more traffic accidents within city limits. The states hunters got the original Green Acres act passed. What’s most of it being used for now. Better act fast on the birth control–the does are in heat now and bucks don’t care where the hot doe is even if it’s right across the street from you.

Think about it. Be ignorant or just shout ridiculous statements without first thinking them through. I am sure the thoughts about birth control have alreay been thought through by the State DEP. If you still have a problem talk to your local politicians but THINK first.

Remember if you hit a deer and destroy your car or get injured or better yet the deer gets up and runs away into the woods to die from it’s injuries as often happens. It’s YOUR FAULT.
